easy daze….
Posted on January 28, 2006
Today was an enjoyable day. You know the sort – a bit of this and a bit of that- but still quite enjoyable!
I met up with a friend Karina this morning for a water workout. The bay was as flat as a tack – so we had a swim. My arms were like jelly – I haven’t swum for soooo long -but gee it felt good. There is a 1.2km swim coming up in February that I wouldn’t mind doing – but I really need to work on my arm strength first!
Then we went off to a 4th Birthday party – a rainbow party! Yep it was all good – my girls played games and ate- well.. Mackenzie did most of the eating – after all – she does have a big head to fill::
She at that entire paddlepop all to herself….I made the almost fatal error of trying to take it from her! No way mum – it’s mine, and no-one else is getting it!
By the time we came home, Madison was asleep in the car, and I put Mackenzie to bed too. AAhhh – bliss – child-free time1 Gotta love it! I actually sat down on the couch, and watched last week’s Gilmore Girls double – love that show. It’s so fast and quirky – I think we all have a bit of Lorelai and Rory in us!
Then this evening – I got to whip up a layout:: (it took me around 2-3 hours – I am sooo slow at this digi-stuff!)::
::roger & me::
It’s all good.

gettin’ eggy wit’ it….
Posted on January 27, 2006
OK – I have jumped on the egger bandwagon – and here are my ‘egger’ thoughts……..
Hmm – there seems to be some division here in digi-scrap land!
Honestly – I believe that we should all be scrapping for whatever makes us happy – and if that is preserving memories, and love – then fantastic – or if we scrap to be published – great – or if we scrap to show off our designing / creating abilities to make money – then good on you – or if it a combination of all the above and more – BUT – remember – enjoy what you are doing.
It is not a competition or popularity contest. Some people who are relatively new on the digi-scrap scene may not be as well known / popular as others who have been around longer, and have already formed strong bonds in the community. Isn’t the philosophy of the eggers to bring everyone together – no matter how big or small – it’s not about who gets egged or who doesn’t, but enjoying the whole ‘process’ of scrapping, making friends, and just loving a wonderful community.
Let’s all get eggy with it, and enjoy the digi-scrapping community as a whole!
I have never been in any particular ‘in’ crowd, and I must admit it’s something that I have been known to "worry’ about! The digi-scrapping community is a big pond, and there are some fish that are bigger than others out there. I have only been digi’ing for a short time, and I can see there are some sharks (for want of an analogy!), and minnows – but hopefully everyone can live harmoniuosly together, and the sharks don’t eat up the little fish – because we all deserve to enjoy the wonderful hobby that digi-scrapping is – for whatever reason we do it.
AARRGGHH – enough rambling – you get th picture – JUST ENJOY it for what it is!
Now – I have to upload some pic’s I have been meaning to get here for a while:
This one is the girls enjoying the outdoors on Moonraker. They ahd a great time on the boat – Mackenzie wanted to get right on in the water – no way kiddo – shark bait for you!
This is Madison in full flight at her first ever swimming lesson! She’s certainly got some guts!
OK – this one is really cute – we went strawberry picking…and you are not supposed to eat any fruit out in the field………
This next one is just of the girls ‘lovin’ each other! They are such cheeky little suls, always keeping me on my toes!
This is Madison and Willas on Madison’s first dogem car ride! Not the best picture of Willy – but it captures the moment of ‘look at me mummy!"
OK – enough uploading photos just plain – I really need to scrap some instead – but I’m so slow at that – so I thought I chuck ‘em on here as is – completely unphotoshopped and in the ‘raw’!
I unfortunately didn’t have the camera handy today to caoture a fantastic moment (always the way!). Mackenzie is finally finding her feet, and she stood up for around 10 seconds. what a champ she is! It’s about time – but I guess whan you have a head that big – what can you do!!! She stood up with her pink toy ‘little people’ singing car (who makes these things – wait till I meet you Mr Fisher-Price!) in both hands, and grinned at me as if she had been doing it forever! Of course when I clapped and made a big hoo-haa – she promptly sat down, and gave me the ‘talk to the back’ treatment (where she sits on her bottom, and uses her legs to wiggle herself around in a circle until her back is faing me!). Mental note – this child does not want praise!!!!

What a lovely day it has been (or at least was…it’s 1am in the morning – so I still think it is yesterday, and that yesterday is today – got it!!??) It was australia Day today (yesterday), and the weather was at its most Aussie! beautiful and hot – we hit the beach, ate and ice-cream, had a swim, and even did an early morning workout in the water this morning – life is good. To top it all off – we had a little possum come inside the house this evening – just like it owned the place! How Aussie is that!
I created my first font today (or this evening – which is why I am still up!). It’s called ‘laidback’ (I wonder why!!!), and here is a preview….
::laidback font::
…and tadaa – here is the link to get it until the end of January – (or maybe longer!!) after which it will be available for purchase!!!

busy doing lots, but getting nothing done…
Posted on January 24, 2006
I seem to be on the go all the time – but nothing productive is happening. Well – that’s not really true – I am finally getting something done at The Spotted Cow – but I am having a fight with the style sheets – which is why everything is looking wonky! At least now, people can purchase web hosting!
I completed my first ATC today:::
Credits: Jen Wilson – Signature 01 paper& ribbon; worn foam stamps 01; brushed messy edges set:: Antiquated swirl brushes – Michelle Coleman @ Scrap Artist :: Floral brushes – AJ Smith
I really quite enjoyed it. I am experimenting with brushes and bits and pieces. Still trying to find my style – need more time! I also used this ATC for my week two Art Journal entry! Yep – now only 2 weeks behind!
I am still slowly working on my first kit – gee whiz – I really need to get my butt into gear if I want to sell anything! At this rate, I’ll never have anything to sell!
M1 and M2 are playingtogether really well at present. M2 had a win today – she was palying with M1’s shoes, and apparently ‘that is not on’!!!! M1 snatched away the first shoe, and then went for the second, but M2 had it in her hot little hand and was much too quick! She had the most satisfied grin on her chubby little face – she really knew what she was doing!

I’m melting….
Posted on January 22, 2006
…and I can’t be bothered even picking up the camera to document it! I have the fan blowing on me at full bore – and it’s blowing hot air!!!! Now there is a conundrum for you! It’s around 40 degrees Celsius here – give ot take a couple, but who cares when it is this hot.
My two cheeky monkeys are spending their time in the blow-up paddle pool, as are my niece and nephew who are staying with us for the week. We all set off to the beach this morning, but you only had to look outside to get sunburnt, and I am afraid tending to sunburnt skin is not high I on my agenda!
OK – must go, computer and I are having a meltdown!

does it matter that her head is the size of a 3 year-old…
Posted on January 18, 2006
It was weigh-in day for Mackenzie yesterday – (no wonder we get soo many kids with eating disorders – regular weigh-ins from birth!) – I had to ring in and ensure that the extra-long tappe measure was available! She is 15 months old – and still has no neck – but I’m sure she is going to grow one soon!
She’s 11.5kg (all of 4 less than her big sister!), and apparently heavier than 90% of all other kids her age. I’m not sure where she stores it all – coz it’s not as though she is fat – maybe it’s all in her head………, coz the circumference of her head is off the chart! Yep – not even in a percentile – it’s bigger than over 97% of children her age! On the graph – she is in white space (which is probably what’s filling up her head, and causing this!) – I think this is a good thing – in fact I’m a little proud – ‘you go girl’, she requires extra storage for all that thinking she does – coz she’s definately not using it to learn how to walk! Love her work!

sale…
Posted on January 17, 2006
There was a bit of a sale on at ScarpArtist today – 35% off all in store. Now as I have mentioned – this is my new favourite site! I whipped over to the shoppe to have a browse, and found some gorgeous bits and pieces. I love the artistic brushed look, and this site gives me soooo much inspiration – if only I had a chance to do some scrapping – it’ll get easier as I learn more, and become more time-efficient (yeah right!). OK here are my purchases:
Aren’t they cool! I also snaffled a couple of brush sets and overlays. I am endeavouring to make all my own stuff – but it’s great to have other bits and pieces – coz everyone designs differently and who’s to say I am ever going to be able to design absolutely everything I love anyway.
I am still trying to find my ’style’ – I’m really struggling with this at present – I think I really need to sit down and do a whole heap of layouts, and take a good long har d look at seeing what they turn out like – or maybe I just need to realx, and not try to fit in a particular style – just do what feels right for me.

chupa chup kids….
Posted on January 17, 2006
This actually happened just prior to Christmas – but I thought I would share – coz it is kinda funny! I was reminded of the story today – coz I opened my fridge (not a new thing, happens often!), and found a little container full of chupa chups in various states of ‘edibleness’! Three are still wrapped, whilt the other three have been dilligently sucked on for a while, and then discarded – usually into my handbag for me to discover at a totally inopportune time!
The girls and I were doing a little pre-Christmas shop at K-Mart (high quality stuff!), and every now and then as a treat, Madison gets to choose a chupa chup (last of the big spenders, at 35c each!). I unwrapped it for her (you need a degree and a masters to open these things), and she proceeded to enjoy, UNTIL she made the fatal error, of offering it to Mackenzie for a try (not that I am one to condone sharing – I love it – but thsi went a little sour for a few minutes!). Mackenzie swiped the lollipop out of Madison’s hand, had a lick, and then proceeded to hold onto it as if her life depended on it! Madison (to her credit) didn’t make a huge fuss – we purchased another! Anyway – suddenly I have two children under 3 years of age, sucking on the dentists’ greatest friend of all!So much for setting a good dental example! Hmm – at least they were enjoying it! AAHH – but the story is not over – it was then time to sit on Santa’s knee for the obligatory photo! Madison gave up her lolly easily enough, but have you ever tried fighting a 13 month old for a lolly on a stick! Good lord – that child should be a security guard! Anyway – lollipops aside – the photo with Sanata (+ me!), wasn”t the best in the world – but there you have it!
Now when we get a lollipop as a treat – I open Madison’s for her, but Mackenzie’s stays unopened, and she is more than happy to suck on a plastic-wrapped chupa chup!
