can we go yet?
Posted on January 31, 2008
That was the first thing we heard after – ‘can I get dressed yet?’!! Yes – it was Madison’s first day of school!!! The whole thing was surprisingly easy to be honest!!! Her first day photos are in the P&S, but here’s a photo of her ‘practising’ in her uniform on day 29!

She was only there until 1:15pm – not an awfully long day – but long enough I guess!!! Her best little buddy L was there – so all was well! Wilbur, M2&3 and I (well – Wilbur and M2) ate scones in the staffroom after dropping her off! M2 sure loves her jam and cream! Madison had a good time – played with her little buddies from Kinder – there’s four of them in her class – and copied a little page of writing. M2 was a little lost without Madison – but to be honest – I found the whole thing quite peaceful!
ok -
back to the days in order…..
day twenty-five – how could I NOT photograph these beautiful clouds.

day twenty-six – Madison LOVES her camera – and takes photos at every opportunity!

day twenty-seven – not quite sure what Mackenzie was doing – but she was having fun!

day twenty-eight – could those eyes be any gorgeousser!!!

day tweny-nine – you’ve seen this one!
day thirty - hmm – maybe Murphy’s eyes are ‘gorgeousser’!!!

day thirty-one – ahh – more eye lusciousness!!!

Okay – so that was January – POYD. I made it for a whole month. Yep – so I didn’t post EVERY day – but this is my blog and I can do what I like!!!!
Oh gosh – it’s a busy time – but I LOVE it. I have some funny little M stories to share – but they will wait until tomorrow – only becuase if I don’t get into bed right now – I will not be able to DO tomorrow.

you know you are Australian if…
Posted on January 27, 2008
1. You know the meaning of the word "girt".
2. You believe that stubbies can be either drunk or worn.
3. You think it’s normal to have a leader called Kevin.
4. You waddle when you walk due to the 53 expired petrol discount vouchers stuffed in your wallet or purse.
5. You’ve made a bong out of your garden hose rather than use it for something illegal such as watering the garden.
6. You believe it is appropriate to put a rubber in your son’s pencil case when he first attends school.
7. When you hear that an American "roots for his team" you wonder how often and with whom.
8. You understand that the phrase "a group of women wearing black thongs" refers to footwear and may be less alluring than it sounds.
9. You pronounce Melbourne as "Mel-bin".
10. You pronounce Penrith as "Pen-riff".
11. You believe the "l" in the word "Australia" is optional.
12. You can translate: "Dazza and Shazza played Acca Dacca on the way to Maccas."
13. You believe it makes perfect sense for a nation to decorate its highways with large fibreglass bananas, prawns and sheep.
14. You call your best friend "a total bastard" but someone you really, truly despise is just "a bit of a bastard".
15. You think "Woolloomooloo" is a perfectly reasonable name for a place.
16. You’re secretly proud of our killer wildlife.
17. You believe it makes sense for a country to have a $1 coin that’s twice as big as its $2 coin.
18. You understand that "Wagga Wagga" can be abbreviated to "Wagga" but "Woy Woy" can’t be called "Woy".
19. You believe that cooked-down axlegrease makes a good breakfast spread.
20. You believe all famous Kiwis are actually Australian, until they stuff up, at which point they again become Kiwis.
21. Hamburger. Beetroot. Of course.
22. You know that certain words must, by law, be shouted out during any rendition of the Angels’ song Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again.
23. You believe, as an article of faith, that the confectionary known as the Wagon Wheel has become smaller with every passing year.
24. You still don’t get why the "Labor" in "Australian Labor Party" is not spelt with a "u".
25. You wear ugh boots outside the house.
26. You believe, as an article of faith, that every important discovery in the world was made by an Australian but then sold off to the Yanks for a pittance.
27. You believe that the more you shorten someone’s name the more you like them.
28. Whatever your linguistic skills, you find yourself able to order takeaway fluently in every Asian language.
29. You understand that "excuse me" can sound rude, while "scuse me" is always polite.
30. You know what it’s like to swallow a fly, on occasion via your nose.
31. You understand that "you" has a plural and that it’s "youse".
32. You know it’s not summer until the steering wheel is too hot to handle.
33. Your biggest family argument over the summer concerned the rules for beach cricket.
34. You shake your head in horror when companies try to market what they call "Anzac cookies".
35. You still think of Kylie as "that girl off Neighbours".
36. When returning home from overseas, you expect to be brutally strip-searched by Customs – just in case you’re trying to sneak in fruit.
37. You believe the phrase "smart casual" refers to a pair of black tracky-daks, suitably laundered.
38. You understand that all train timetables are works of fiction.
39. When working on a bar, you understand male customers will feel the need to offer an excuse whenever they order low-alcohol beer.
40. You get choked up with emotion by the first verse of the national anthem and then have trouble remembering the second.
41. You find yourself ignorant of nearly all the facts deemed essential in the government’s new test for migrants.
42. You know, whatever the tourist books say, that no one says "cobber".
43. And you will immediately forward this list to other Australians, here and overseas, realising that only they will understand.
Happy Australia Day – for yesterday! (Sydney Morning Herald)

party….
Posted on January 14, 2008
Finally here's a slideshow of M1's birthday party. We had a fantastic time – egg and bacon muffin and fruit stick breakfast in the park – early in the morning as the weather was super hot. Then some old fashioned party games – apple bobbing, sack races in my pillow cases and golf ball and spoon races! Great fun was had by all!!!!

a quick POTD catch-up
Posted on January 13, 2008
…. even though I will still be a little behind – BUT – the photos are IN my camera!!!!
day seven – weeding – oh my… our house is super old, and our block large – but the owners before us treated the place like a tip, so we threw down some soil and tossed some grass seed over the top – now there are weeds-a-plenty. I do not DO weeding. It’s not my thing – what a boring job, and I never seem to get out the whole thing. Wilbur found this weeding tool – so I said – "go for it – they are all yours!". He did!

day eight – my beautiful M1’s 5th birthday. unfortunately we were crook with a tummy bug – but I still managed to sing with her!

day nine – another thumb sucker – and a noisy one! She is beginning to discover her thumb, as opposed to her entire hand!

day ten – another super dooper hot day spent lazing in the tropical surrounds of our overgrown apple tree and blow up lagoon (read – pool!)

day eleven – we were planning for M1’s birthday party – apple bobbing. Wilbur practiced in the pool, and was successful – once he put his entire head in!

Speaking of Madisons birthday party – it was a huge success. We went to a little local park on the beach, and had breakfast with about 40 of her friends (including parents and siblings!). Photos and debriefing to come tomorrow!!!!
Oh – I LOVE my Larry (MAC) – I am able to set-up and work on a local testing server – something that I just couldn’t get happening on my PC. It took me 15 minutes to get it sorted on Larry this arvo. I am happy!

happy birthday…..sort of
Posted on January 9, 2008
Ok – so it was M1’s 5th birthday yesterday. Happy Birthday to her. See how cheerful I sound. That’s how cheerful anyone would sound if they spent their first-born’s 5th birthday in bed with some sort of tummy bug. Of all days. Even she was feeling a little crook. Poor kid. She came to me after dinner and said – ‘Mummy – can you please come and sing happy birthday and help me blow out my candles’? I couldn’t very well refuse on the grounds of ‘really crappy tummy’ could I. So off I went, and then crawled straight back into bed.
We are having a birthday breakfast for her on Friday at the local park – was going to be Saturday, but Wilbur has been called to work – so super quick change of plans. Hopefully I will be able to pick up the 50 mini-muffins I need for the cake a day early. The weather is going to be super doper hot – around 40′C – so I am happy it’s a morning thing!
P365 – sitting in my camera. Will get to those later. Possibly tomorrow.
Blog designs – still working on them – AND a fantastic new theme especially for photographers!!! yay!
Digi-scrap stuff – in the works. Look out for a new Worm in the next two weeks! Yay!
