so – what’s the go….
Posted on March 30, 2008
Miss ‘I’mqueenofthehouseoratleastIactlikeIam" Madison started school this year. Yippee – or so I thought. You know – before school started I thought to myself – ‘fabulous – an extra six Madison-free hours 5 days per week’. Couldn’t ask for more. Well – I could actually, 8 or nine hours – but I guess unless I get a major petition going and sent off to the Education Dept – it won’t happen, not in this lifetime anyway. So – I prepared. Lunchbox (pink – is there any other colour), water bottle, container for fruit snack (apparently fruit snack MUST be fresh and cut into easy accessible bite-sized pieces), school bag, uniform. (surely they come in a smaller size), umpteen PAIRS of socks (all I have left now is all the left ones), labels (mental note – do not let Mackenzie play with anything that looks, feels or tastes remotely like a sticker), black school shoe crocs (is there any other shoes brand). Ah – surely that’s it. No. Mental preparation. Physical preparation. Whoops. Not mental preparation for the actual point of leaving her at school for the first time – that was no worries. Easy. Can do it with my eyes shut. Not physical preparation as in am I (or is she) strong enough to lug her school bag around – that’s also no worries. It was the combination of the two that I struggle with. ORGANISATION. Oh my. Getting three small children out the door by 8:30am, all in one piece – argh. Is it possible. So much to think of. Is the lunchbox nutritious and full enough? Is it even in her bag? Is she wearing knickers? (a frequent question in our house!) Is it music day – where is middle C – can you remember – it’s near the black keys – no – not those ones, the other ones – bang it with your thumb. Do you want to wear skorts or dress? Where’s one of the other 60 pairs of white socks I bought so that we would have a good chance of finding at least two white ones – regardless of whether they were a pair or not. Have you got your reader – did we read it? Where’s your hat – ‘in my chair-bag mummy’. Chair-bag – what on earth were they thinking – sounds unsavoury to me.
Whew – and that’s only one of my M’s. At this stage, Mackenzie is wondering around still in her bed-hair looking for her cow – who may or may not be in any number of places – must remember to put a leash on him. Murphy is trying hard to get a few extra minutes of sleep coz she is exhausted from all of the burping, belching, fluffing, pooing and up-chucking that she has managed to fit into the 5 hours of awake time she had through the night.
Oh – is it OK if I do the school run in my PJ’s – or is that unsavoury (if you know what I mean!).
My aim for Term Two is to make it out the door in one piece for at least ONE day per term – coz that will be a 100% improvement on Term One! I have a week to prepare.

a great find…
Posted on March 29, 2008
The L family that is!!!! M1 met S at Kinder last year, and they became firm friends. They are at seperate Primary school this year, and still LOVE to play together. The L family are moving next week – about 1.5 hours away – so plays and visits will not be as frequent – so I got the kids together this morning for a quick ‘photo date’! It was cold and windy – almost like winter had come early – but we had fun. Here’s a few favourites so far…..

WOW – what a change to see someone other than the M’s!!!!
Oh – and here’s a little baby boy I ‘did’ a little while back….

Enjoy!

just doing stuff..
Posted on March 27, 2008

You know – I am having a whole shift at the moment. It's a great shift – and I am beginning to see what is important and what is making me happy. Nothing like a bit of happy and DOing to make your day good. Just did stuff today. Some blog creation /design work, some photography, some blog-hopping (gotta love that), and some general stuff.

eyecandy beware….
Posted on March 26, 2008
OK – warning you now – lots of M eyecandy (well I think it is – but then – I MAY be biased!). These are in no particular order – just a mish mash of images taken in March!

Hmm – I do actually have three children – but you would never know!!! Mackenzie and Madison are just not that impressed about having their photo taken anymore. I don’t blame them really – so Murphy gets the full brunt! She is 5 and a half months now, and has truly ‘discovered’ her tootsies – oh, and her hands – and ummmm anything else she can randomly grab!!!!
Life has been good – we were camping over Easter – there’s a couple of images up there of the Mackenzinator in her overalls and red crocs - they used to be blue and red respectively – but all of her clothes came back with a layer of dirt. My washing machine is getting a workout!
Miss Madison is on school holidays. Was it just me – or is Term One of Prep (first year of school) unusually chaotic? Madison loved it – rather like a fish loving water. Me – I thought it was fabulous – but really – is 6 hours of school per day enough? Surely they could spend a while longer? After all – they have a whole lot to learn don’t they! We managed to miss at least one after school activity per week. She was tired – I was tired, the Murph was tired. The Mackenzinator was tired. There was a whole lotta tired going on. Maybe this term will be different. Surely it will be. If I keep hoping – I know it will be. Now I am dealing with the (what I like to call) first term at my first year of school attitude. Please tell me it happens to ALL little munchkins. WOW – what a right royal pain in the backside she can be. She will be lucky to make it to Term 2 – although – now I think about it – I really want her to go back to school!!! Ahhh – I can hear it now – PEACE!!!!!
Mackenzie is plodding along (really she is!) as per usual. She is so laid back and easy-going – especially if she has food in her mouth (a bit like her Daddy really!). How is it that her mouth can be chock full of whatever food is on hand at the time, and she can still look adorable!
I have something super exciting coming up – I have been working long and hard on this, and have only now decided to turn it into a full-blown ‘thing’. Stay tuned!!!!!

"Stakes – what steaks -rump steak, sirloin steak, star picket stake, wooden stake – what sort f st(e)ake Madison?" – me – in answer.
"no mum – stakes – are a part of learning" – Madison
"oh yes my sweet girl – mistakes certainly ARE a part of learning!" – me – when the penny dropped!

what time is it….
Posted on March 18, 2008
So it is 3:47am on Tuesday morning, and Murphy and I are having a mini clash of wills. I think mine is stronger – either tat – or the bongella I just spread on her little gums is working a treat!!!!!

So – it’s not a perfectly technically correct image – but neither is Murphy – or me for that matter!!!! She was sitting on my knee, and I shoved the P&S in her face – this is what I got! We were on the ‘duck’ in Surfers Paradise at the time!
Well – it is 3:57am, and it looks like sleep is the winner here – so I am back to bed for a bit of it myself!

ok..
Posted on March 16, 2008
so I am feeling better about stuff. Thank-you to everyone who has sent me beautiful emails and comments – I really appreciate it – truly I do.
All is well.

We took a well-needed family holiday a few weeks ago – up to the Gold Coast. Had a great time. Lots of family togetherness and loving. Wonderful. Pictures later.
The above image was taken on Friday night – at our local beach. We played with the W’s. The M’s had a wonderful time. Fish and chips (what a treat!) on the beach with some wonderful Kinder friends. So relaxing and carefree. Just what the doctor (not that there has been a doctor!) ordered.
We are in the middle of a heatwave right now. Oh so hot. No air conditioning. Ahh – but there is the outside of the house, and the shade of a coolibah tree. No coolibah tree here really – just a few tea-trees! It’s all good. Paddle pool in the heat of the day – shallows of the beach before dinner. What a way to wear out the girls – oh – and the parents.
My M’s are wonderful. The biggest M adores school. Next week signals the end of Temr ONE. Oh my – how it has flown. Where is February? Did I blink! My Mackenzinator is just that! We bought her a t-shirt in Queensland with a picture of a dolphin on it, and the following slogan – "I LOVE dolphins – but I couldn’t eat a whole one"! perfect for her!!! My baby Murph – is not such a baby. 5 months old. WOW – how those 5 moths have flown. She and I have been quite sick with an awful virus of some sort. Basically – there is alot of snot involved. Not overly becoming – but nevertheless – we have it. So – there has not been a whole lot of sleep – especially on the holiday. but we are coping and managing. Tonight Little Miss I Don’t Need To Sleep and I re going to be having some quality night-time settling time together – unless of course she chooses tonight to sleep the entire night again – just as she was – up until a full month ago! Ahh – the smiles nearly make a sleep deprived mother not worry about anything!
