so - what’s the go….

Miss ‘I’mqueenofthehouseoratleastIactlikeIam" Madison started school this year.  Yippee - or so I thought.  You know - before school started I thought to myself - ‘fabulous - an extra six Madison-free hours 5 days per week’.  Couldn’t ask for more. Well - I could actually, 8 or nine hours - but I guess unless I get a major petition going and sent off to the Education Dept - it won’t happen, not in this lifetime anyway. So - I prepared. Lunchbox (pink - is there any other colour), water bottle, container for fruit snack (apparently fruit snack MUST be fresh and cut into easy accessible bite-sized pieces), school bag, uniform. (surely they come in a smaller size), umpteen PAIRS of socks (all I have left now is all the left ones), labels (mental note - do not let Mackenzie play with anything that looks, feels or tastes remotely like a sticker), black school shoe crocs (is there any other shoes brand).  Ah - surely that’s it.  No.  Mental preparation. Physical preparation.  Whoops.  Not mental preparation for the actual point of leaving her at school for the first time - that was no worries.  Easy.  Can do it with my eyes shut.  Not physical preparation as in am I (or is she) strong enough to lug her school bag around - that’s also no worries.  It was the combination of the two that I struggle with.  ORGANISATION.  Oh my.  Getting three small children out the door by 8:30am, all in one piece - argh.  Is it possible. So much to think of.  Is the lunchbox nutritious and full enough?  Is it even in her bag?  Is she wearing knickers? (a frequent question in our house!) Is it music day - where is middle C - can you remember - it’s near the black keys - no - not those ones, the other ones - bang it with your thumb.  Do you want to wear skorts or dress? Where’s one of the other 60 pairs of white socks I bought so that we would have a good chance of finding at least two white ones - regardless of whether they were a pair or not. Have you got your reader - did we read it?  Where’s your hat - ‘in my chair-bag mummy’.  Chair-bag - what on earth were they thinking - sounds unsavoury to me.

Whew - and that’s only one of my M’s.  At this stage, Mackenzie is wondering around still in her bed-hair looking for her cow - who may or may not be in any number of places - must remember to put a leash on him.  Murphy is trying hard to get a few extra minutes of sleep coz she is exhausted from all of the burping, belching, fluffing, pooing and up-chucking that she has managed to fit into the 5 hours of awake time she had through the night.

Oh - is it OK if I do the school run in my PJ’s - or is that unsavoury (if you know what I mean!).

My aim for Term Two is to make it out the door in one piece for at least ONE day per term - coz that will be a 100% improvement on Term One!  I have a week to prepare.

Oh man - sounds just like us trying to get to morning kinder.. thank goodness that is only twice a week! I’m not sure about 9 hours of school - but I really think there should be a law about having to be anywhere before 10am!

Oh yeah - I know that feeling! And add to that getting hair done!! It shouldn’t be so hard to get one kid out the door. Imagine when we have more than one kids at school!

Our school STARTS at 8.20am! Organisation is the key and get as much ready the night before as possible! And then put everything were a curios one year can’t reach and pull the bag down, open it and destroy anything and everything inside it!! LOL!

The good thing is, is that it does get easier! As your brood gets older they can do more for themselves (indepence is something that I strongly encourage in my kids) and with no breastfeeding and stuff like that to do, it does become less of a rush.

Ah, those maternal instincts! I can see it’s been such a huge adjustment this first year of school! And lol at the ‘are you wearing your knickers’ - sounds familiar. Not for me, I frequently remember mine - I have two nieces ;)

Poor Kylie - I do feel your pain. Our place is a mad house in the mornings becasue not only do i have to get out of PJs before I leave the house (with the girls spick and span and hair done in any number of flattering styles!) I have to get myself ready for work now! Eeeeek! But seriously it does get better - my big girl packs the lunches and water bottles away in the ports while I get dressed now so that is a help! But I do remember the days of getting the big girl to school with a little one causing all sorts of havoc! Hang in there, you will find your groove!

Pssst those photos are just GORGEOUS!!!!
