Yesterday….
Posted on May 30, 2008
Was my birthday. Ahh - hit you up straight out with some bad grammar. Welcome to today! Yesterday didn’t quite go as planned. There were no cupcakes, no hotsprings and no chocolate melty things. Instead, there was a glorious morning, and the inclination to go running. So i did. A gorgeous 8km of head-clearing, heart pumping, check out the beautiful sea running. I LOVED it. Fat Hervey (dog) loved it too - although he did start to lag when upeed the ace in the 6th km!). Then I wet to the gym and did a powerbar class (similar to pump). I picked up the littlest M’s and whipped down to the local super expensive gourmety shop and bought the LOVELIEST hunk of smoked salmon fillet and some sppinach to make a super yumbo salad. Ah - heaven in a bowl. The it was nap time for the girls, and after nap - Mackenzie had to go for her heart check-up with her cardiologist. All is going well - still much the same. Waiting for her to grow, and see how her heart develops. All is good. Home for delicious soup and off to karate with Madison. I was the VERY lucky reipient of a gorgeous bunch/box of flowers from my darling Wilbur, some roes from my girls AND a set of these, from the wonderfully fabulous buddy Nancy (she knows how to make me giggle with delight!). then there were the wonderful emails, messages and phone calls. Lovely. A wonderful way to turn 35.
I have a new set of things to accomplish before I am 40. Nothing too major - but here they are. Snowboard in New Zealand, learn to kitesurf, become a proficient surfer, complete a half-marathon, AND a full marathon. See - no career goals there at all. Oh - actually - yes - I will be THE photographer for the Southern Mornington Peninsula. Katie - you can have your end!!!!!!!
So - today is a day of not moving - my butt is sore from yesterdays frivolity! Actually - the best way to get rid of soreness is to get out there and do it all again - so I will. Not the run - but I ill do a spin class. tat’s fix my backside up and show it who’s the boss around here!
Apparently two spoons are needed to correctly lick the bowl!
I LOVE where I live…..
Took the M’s rollerbladng (or rather - only the biggest M actually put blades on) for the first time. She picked it up really well, and ventured away from the wall a few times. Go Madison! looking forward to taking her again!

my 35th year is coming to a close…….
Posted on May 28, 2008
ah yes. Isn’t that confusing - I am turning 35, but I have finished my 35th year! gee - I hope I’ve got that right - otherwise I have just made a worldwide fool out of myself! No matter. As of tomorrow - I will be 35, and a WHOLE lot wiser. Gee - I hope I am a whole lot less crankier though. Today was one of those days where nothing actually went wrong - but my cranky brain cells surfaced for a little while. Absolutely fine - they need to have their day. I am happy they picked today and not tomorrow. Yay for you cranky brain cells. Now that you have had your fun - hibernate please. (I hear that if you are polite to them - they don’t come out too often - one can only hope!).
Ahh - I have finally got my monitor calibrated, and received my test prints back. I am a happy camper. They look fabulous if I may say so myself. My lab were fantastic in helping me to get the monitor and colours just right. A big huge thank-you to them.
Now for some snippity snaps!
Okay - so I had more images to add - but for some reason my server is extraordinarily slow, and waiting is not on my agenda tonight!

hmm - so busy
Posted on May 23, 2008
That’s all I seem to say rally isn’t it. I am not complaining at all though It’s great to be busy. I am happy with that.
This is a quick post (is there ever quick with me - or short even?!) to mention that yes - I am totally aware that I have missed a few days in the whole blog something I like about me thingo I had going on. That is something I don’t like about me - I DO have a tendency to have these crazy ideas, and never follow through. It drives me mad. If only I had more time. Or maybe better organisation. Or maybe a couple of mini-me’s to help out. Maybe I should just stop thinking!!!!!
So…… I went to the orthodontist the other day. I am not a teeth person. I do not like the dentist. BUT - I HAVE given birth to three children. At least that’s what I tell myself. I mean - I have given birth - I am not just making something up, and telling myself I did it, just to ease the pain! Anyway… back to the orthodontist! I DO have quite crooked crowded teeth, and it seems that there is enough grief inside my mouth that jaw surgery may be necessary! WHAT! Hmm - seems I have a crooked jaw. Lucky me. Braces will then be required, along with veneers to rectify all the grinding I have been doing (unknowingly). Oh yes - what excitement. So - in two years time - I will have a VERY beautiful but expensive smile. The jaw surgery bit is not 100% yet - still awaiting the results of all the x-rays and photos etc.
Let’s talk M’s. No - let’s not. I’ll wait till I unload my photos and videos - pictures tell a much better story than prose!

we have lift-oof
Posted on May 15, 2008
Actually - that should say lift-OFF - but I forgot how to type yet again. To be honest - there is no lift off or oof happening here - I just couldn’t vocalise what I was thinking - thats what I came up with! Sorry to disappoint anyone who googled ‘lift-off’ expecting an amazing NASA report, and instead reading about the capture of TWO mice (yes folks - that’s TWO), and the loss of yet ANOTHER toaster. We seem to go through toasters a little like going through toilet paper. I think we are up to our 6th one in maybe 4 years. This time it is not due to the toasting of tacos, faulty lifters, uneven toasting or just plain BAD performance. No. The reason of toaster replacement was MOUSE-ish. I tell you - this whole Mouse thing is sending me to early retirement.
It’s common knowledge to regular blog readers that I have been waging a little mouse-war of late. The mice (I can use plural - since I have now caught three of them) WERE winning. Smart little critters were beating the bad odds stacked against them of three traps placed strategically around the house kitchen. I spent a small fortune on mouse-catching devices yesterday, and they were still sitting atop my bench at 8:15pm last night. I heard a rustle noise, and bounded off the couch (as much as one can bound at that time of night) just in time to see the tail of a mouse whip behind my toaster. Ahh. Time to actually set the mouse-catching ware. I went to unwrap the bait only to discover that Mr/Mrs Mouse had nibbled his/her (why I am being non gender specific I DO NOT know) way through the double wrapped plastic, and a fair whack of the bait. Yeeha. Not bad - didn’t even need to take the bait out of the bag!!! Mouse surely would have a belly-ache soon. I carefully poked at the toaster, and Mouse jumped out of it. ARGH. Mental Note - DO NOT have toast for breakfast. THROW OUT TOASTER. Then he scurried along the bench, and launched himself off onto the floor, and behind the cupboard. Once I had overcome my shock at realising I was dealing with the Jackie Chan of mice - I whipped into action. Popped a little morsel of bait on the child-dog-small-being safety baiting device, and placed it behind the bin. Smeared a pencil-eraser sized bit of MOUSE ATTRACTING GEL on the cool black clamp-like trap, and put it down near the cupboard where Mouse was last seen. I kid you not - less that 4.5 minutes later - the trap went off - I was right near it, and I looked down to see (people with weak tummies look away!) little Mouse-tail writhing and thrashing behind the tinned fruit that was on the floor. (thank-goodness for tinned fruit - I’m not really up on seeing animals cark it - even if they have been giving me GRIEF for the best part of a couple of weeks!). I decided to enclose it - just in case it wasn’t lodged enough in the trap - thank goodness my hoarding instincts had kicked in last Christmas, and I hadn’t thrown out a decorated milk-formula tin ‘for my Christmas keepsakes’ that M2 had made me - so I popped it ontop of Mouse and trap, and went to bed feeling very satisfied.
Fast forward to tonight - Mouse disposed of. I am sitting calmly watching a wee bit of Gordon, and I hear scritchy scratchy scritchy scratchy coming from behind the bin. Hmm - a little Mousey picnic in progress. Out came my trusty clamp trap (still containing mouse attractant gel). Ten minutes later. BANG. (It was more like a snap). Mouse number THREE gonski. Trusty formula tin on top. Mental note - dispose of tomorrow.
Oh gosh - it is super late - but I have to mention M1 and karate. She hadn’t been fo about three months - since the start of school. Too tired. that’s OK. Me too. I decided she could ‘toughen up princess’ (!) and took her tonight. Gee she’s good at it. So tiny though! They got to the end of the class and ‘J’ (instructor) gave the entire group a ‘talking to’ (the group consists of all ages 5 to adult) as some of the kids were not respecting each other. “J” used his scary voice, and was quite loud. I could see M1 and her little school friend T standing VERY close together with their scared faces on. As soon as they were dismissed M1 came over to me with a VERY low bottom lip, and tears welling up in her big blue eyes. Poor little thing. I explained that J wasn’t yelling at her, but at some others. We then went to say good-bye to J (who is a fabulous instructor), and he was REALLY good and explained why he was cranky at some people, and let Madison know that she was in no strife at all, AND that she did a fantastic job tonight. Her bottom lip did pick up somewhat - and I am hoping shell be right to go again next week

that’s fancy
Posted on May 14, 2008
A cute little conversation with the biggest of M’s tonight in the car went vaguely along the lines of…..
Me: ‘how was school, who did you play with?’ (all the important questions of course!)/
M1: ‘I played with L and K’, and then she said something else (which I have now forgotten - which is really handy when I am trying to tell a story!), and ended with ‘and that’s fancy’!
The ‘and that’s fancy’ was totally in the wrong context - but oh so cute and loveable, and totally laugh out loudable - which I did! I realise that some of the funness may have been lost in the dodgy retelling of this story - bit I enjoyed it on the moment!
Let’s talk about my mouse shall we. I can call him ‘my’ mouse - since I am the one trying to catch the little bugger. I’m telling you - I wouldn’t want to be a mouse in this house! Check out all the arsenal I have….
I couple of these thingos…

Two of these plus bait

I’m telling you - Tomcat - had better work - that’s $45 worth of mouse catching product right up there.
Hmm - so I am a little behind on posting something I like about me EVERY day. Oh well. you get that on the big jobs (to quote my VERY spunky husband!). The reason why I haven’t posted - I AM TIRED, and I needed a break. SO - that’s what I like about me this time around - I can admit that I am tired, and I can take a break if I need it. Ahhh. I think it’s because I am a Gemini that I am so happy changing my mind all the time. That and the fact that I talk to myself on a regular basis - but that could be because I get all the good answers that way. Oh gosh - I am totaly NOT making sense right here. See. TURED. TIRED - not to be confused with TURD!

happy mother’s day… again
Posted on May 11, 2008
To all the mums out there - you do a FABULOUS job!
Had a lovely day today - we (M’s and my mum) went to the Australia Garden - around an hour or so away from us. Lovely gardens - and fabulous water feature.. the girls had an awesome time. OK - so it was only 16 degress - but apparently it was warm enough to splash around in their underwear!
These girls made my Mothers Day a good one! The Murphster - well - she spent the day in the pram. She was meant to be asleep. MEANT being the operative word. She awoke at 5:00am this morning - screaming like she had been dunked in icy water (I tell you what - she nearly was…..). Such a little screecher. We ended up cozying in bed together for a nice early morning snuggle and feed. Ahhh - Happy Mothers Day mummy. She went back to bed for a sleep - BUT - it was only a short one, and hey - apparently that was all that was needed for the ENTIRE day. We managed. She managed, She was a little gem in fact. possibly NOT a diamond - but very close. Who says a nearly 7 month old can’t survive on a 45 minute nap for 7 hours. She finally fell asleep in the car - albeit 10 minutes from home! Fabulosity.
Gotta wrap this up - Grey’s is about to start. The thing I like about me today is th way I can change my mind at anytime! Hence I am not coming up with a thing for yesterday! WOW - all this blogging all at once - it’s hard work!!!!

snap happy…
Posted on May 9, 2008
Ah - I have had a few photos sitting in the 5D for a little while - well - a couple of days - finally I get the chance to whip them off, and have a look. Yes - they are grainy - ISO was at 1250 - ARGH. Mental note to self - Must. Check. ISO.
I love this one - the Big M’s love their little M sister!!!
What’s there not to love!
This is pure cheekiness rolled into a set of gorgeous cheeks!!!!
M1 is totally into her leg warmers right now. technically they are for dancing - but who can say no to a bit of pinkness!
Speaking of cheeks - this is the look M3 gave me EVRY time I looked at her whilst I was eating dinner!
Finally - a bit of ‘yester-year’ - this reminds me a little of photos of me when I was a little ‘un!!!
Okay - so you gotta love an image-y post. I guess I still need to mention something I like about me today. It’s easy. My girls. I made them (with some fabulous help from the wonderful Wilbur of course), and I like that.

Happy Mother’s Day
Posted on May 9, 2008
So - Mother’s Day isn’t until Sunday. I know that. Most people older than my children know that. Considering my girls don’t know a Monday from a Sunday - it makes no difference!
A week ago, Madison took $5 to school for the Mothers Day stall. She came back with her brown paper bag chock full. A girl after my own heart - she went for quantity over quality!!!! I declined to look into it - trying to save my surprise until it was at least the same month as Mothers Day!!!
Fast forward to this afternoon - in the car. We also had L in the car (M1’s greatest buddy), and they were discussing their Mother’s Day gifts, and getting fairly excited. M1 piped up with “Mum - I made you a card, but I can’t tell you - it’s a surprise”. Okay - I’ll try not to remember! We picked up M2, and she had a HUGE paper bag hanging on her bag-hook (at pre-school). her teacher (A) reminded her not to let mummy peek in the bag, so M2 clutched that bag to her litttle chest, and guarded it in much the same way a dog guards its bone!
We got home, and the girls were a little excited. M2 hung her bag on the front-door (why there I’ll never know!). Madison came running out with her card that I wasn’t supposed to know about. I reminded her that Mother’s Day was still a few days away. “But I want to show you now”. How could I argue with that. She handed me a super wet and sticky pasty card - beautifully coloured in, and written on…..
This is the first item of writing I have seen since she started school (apart from her name, and when she copies things that she asks me to write for her) - so I was reduced to a weeping mess instantly. I LOVE the eraser marks. It’s beautiful. Then she topped it off with this…
A gift voucher for mum - upon presentation of this voucher I will draw a love heart for you. How beautiful. I can imagine how excited she was, telling Mrs M the ’special thing’ that she would like to give her mum. Love hearts ARE special things, and I know how much she LOVES to draw them. I am blessed. I smothered her in teary cuddles and kisses - and I could *see* the joy on her little face. Inside the paper bag was soap - a brown one - ‘for your back Mummy’, a white one “for your front Mummy”, and paper butterfly, and a little muslin bag with another bar of soap, and bottle of bathy stuff, and a scrubby thing. I will now be clean back and front - with a different fragrance for each side!
Then M2 bounds in front of me, with a grin bigger than that of a Chesire cat - “happy birthday’ she yelled, and presented me with the bag! Check out that card - her first ‘proper’ drawing. It’s me. I am missing a few vital parts like a body - but - I am happy!!!
Apparently my pillow is for the bath! I am not entirely sure that it is ‘bath-safe’!
I am a happy mum.
