beautiful wedding | Mornington peninsula Photographer
Posted on October 8, 2009

I little while ago, I was contacted by the beautiful Miss G. She was having an engagement party at a fabulous little bar, could I come and take some photos. Yep – sure. ‘Oh – but there’s a catch’ says Miss G. Hmmmm. “We are surprising our guests with a wedding!” Woohoo. I nearly fell off my chair. AWESOME. SO – I packed myself up, and my wonderful friend Katie accompanied me, and we had a fabulous time! The idea of us being there was really to capture the moment – no fussy posed shots – just fun and free. I think we did a top job!

Thank-you G and M for having us – it was a wonderful evening!

squiggy bottom
Posted on October 2, 2009

You know – I really have no reasoning for today’s post title except that it was the first thing that popped into my head. obviously not the first thing in my head today – that may have been a little disturbing. I can imagine the conversation I would have with myself:
- me: “squidgy bottom”
- me: “who has a squidgy bottom?” (rather defensively – coz you know – I am pregnant, and asking someone when pregnant about their bottom is not the DONE thing – just so you know)
- me: “no one has a squidgy bottom – at least I don’t think so”
- me: “maybe squidgy bottom is another way of saying Murphy has a poohey nappy”
- me: “maybe I am still half asleep”
- me: “oh sleep – I’d love some of that – yes…”
- me: “ok go to sleep……. must remember blog{ART}, christmas card design finalise, go to chemist and buy stuff for head lice”
- me: “Oh my God – HEAD LICE – that’s right- we discovered our first ever case of it yesterday”( instant bolting upright from pillow to itch all over, even though I spent half of last night washing and drying like a maniac, not to mention combing through M1’s poor head with a ridiculously red comb that didn’t do the trick – I am amazed that she has any hair left)
- me: “hair – I wish mine would hurry up and grow some more – isn’t pregnancy meant to make hair grow long and luscious?”
- me: “stop kicking from the inside little baby”
- me: “zzzzzzzzz”
So I may have gotten a little off-track, but that’s sort of what happens at 4:30am when you wake up in a daze, and think about squidgy bottoms. Not that I actually thought about bottoms or squidgy ones. but the rest of it I am pretty sure would have happened if I had!
You did read correctly though – we had our first ever case of head lice last night. I was mortified. Not MY child. I pride myself on keeping her hair squeaky clean. Herein lies the problem apparently. Lice LIKE squeaky clean. What was I thinking? Madison usually has a headful of creams and potions – or at least she did have. She suffers from psoriasis in her scalp. it has been a horrendous journey for her. We tried everything – natural remedies creams, cortisone EVERYTHING. We have now sorted it out by using a wonderful shampoo and conditioner. Her scalp is beautiful and clean – no nasty scabby bits, no flaky skin nothing – nada. I have been doing the hip hip hooray dance. I religiously check her hair to ensure her scalp is clear. Nightly and daily. Imagine my surprise when last night BOOM. The little critters hit me with a shock. I had absolutely NO IDEA what to do. Got some lotion – tried to drag ridiculous red comb through her hair afterward – nearly pulled out every hair on her head. Option 2 – piled on the conditioner. Much nicer. Now have no conditioner – but on the plus side – no lice. All dead and gone. there will be no burial service. Sorry guys – I have no feeling but contempt for you. Especially since you had me washing clothes, PJ’s and bed linen feverishly for what seemed like EONS. Today – get more conditioner, and find some sort of natural-type live preventative measure. Have been spraying tea-tree oil all over our heads – smells great. Then I’ll let the M’s go and roll in mud – specifically I’ll douse their heads in mud – just to make them filthy – coz apparently lice don’t like dirt. Win win situation. Girls will have fun. Lice will not. Hurrah.
I think I need a smoothie – preferably a green one.
Oh – and in the future – I need to listen to my gut instinct and follow it. Just a reminder to myself.
The photos lingering up the top there – just a random selection of iphone captures over the past while…..
The Mackenzinator is still a-whoopin’. Poor child. This means I am still running low on sleep – which is a possible explanation for my rambling. Who knew that sleeplessness would send me into a weird vortex of nothing whilst scrambling to keep my head above the red line. She came into me yesterday morning covered in blood. Nothing like a bit of blood to pull me out of bed at 5:00am. Turns out little Miss ‘pickmynose’ friendly finger had been at work. At least – I think that was the cause. Into the wash went her sheets and pillows and PJ’s. Thank goodness for the dryer yesterday! She is exhausted (M2 not the dryer – although I suspect the dryer would be a she – way to many buttons to press – and she is allowed a little exhaustion after the marathon of drying yesterday). Whilst I am giving a shout out to the dryer – I guess I should mention the washing machine too – can’t let it get it’s nose out of joint. It has been working hard. Thank-goodness for the industrial sized thing that we upgraded to after Wilbur put his MASSIVE 7mm wetsuit in our old one – thereby KILLING it. What sort of bloke puts a wetsuit in a washing machine?! Back to Mackenzie – exhausted yes – deaf – yes. That child has more fluid between her ears that the Suez Canal. Need to get a dredger in there – put that on the list….
The Murph is my little snuggly bear. Knows all the important stuff that is necessary for a nearly two year old – ARGH – it is her birthday in 13 days – and M2’s in 11 – not a present or party in sight. Hmmm……. wheels are a turning for gift ideas? Anyone have any? I am thinking a radio flyer trike for M3 (turning 2) and a scooter, and marble run/ramp toy for M2 (turning 5).
Enjoy:)
