through the eyes....

of a 7 year old ❤

A small exchange overheard today:
M1: “don’t use too much water Mackenzie – we are in a drought”
M2: “what’s a drought”
M1: “it’s where there is only THIS much water for families to use (holding her thumb and index finger slightly apart). We can’t use it all because the Indians have none. They have to drink mud.”
M2: “oh” curiousity obviously satisfied!

So – they are teaching Madison something at school – it’s just getting a little lost in translation!

I ask you – can this child be any cruisier?  Apart from the fact that she steadfastly refuses to sleep when I photograph her – she is a dream!

the old simple wasn’t simple enough!

the old simple wasn't simple enough!

Isn’t Milla just the sweetest.  I cannot get her to have a deep sleep and then make her be a guinea pig for photos capture her sleepiness no matter what I do!  The smell of the breastmilk is all too much for her I think!!!

OK – so – P365 update.  You know how I was keeping things simple – well – that was not simple enough.  Mucking around with scanning images, remembering to take one of my camera buddies with me – just not working!  I was only up to Day 3!  Solution – iPhone!  I LOVE my iPhone – so why not use it for the project!  So – here we are – iPhone + shake it photo (a fabulous polaroid simulator app for the iPhone) = SIMPLE!

SOOO – here we go – the first five days of P365-keeping it simple!

P365:01 – pavlova on New Years Day – perfect!

P365:02 Double chins are the In thing right?

P356:03 Nothing like a bit of toe lovin’ in the summertime!

P365:04 MMMM – the remnants of a beautiful summer breakfast!

P365:05 I cannot bring myself to cut this glorious cascade of curls and ringlets…..

SO – there you have it – a few snippets into the year – I have finally settled on a simple plan. Bear in mind that I am likely to change my mind again – after all – it IS my Gemini personality!

keeping it simple

Oh golly.  Simple is hard.  I make everything too hard.  You know – the snowball effect.  I am a master at that!  I don’t know how Wilbur manages to deal with me and my avalanches!  They can get quite massive sometimes. Anyway – I am working on trying to keep things SIMPLE this year.  Last year I was working on PEACE.  Suffice to say – PEACE is a work in progress.  PEACE  and SIMPLE merge well together.

SO – 2010 is here.  Happy New Year.

I wish I had something amazingly profound to say – but no – I don’t.  Simply because I am tired!

The reason I am tired is awfully sweet – but apparently requires feeding aat night.  Why is that?  US grown ups don’t eat at night – so why should she?!

In the keeping it simple theme of things….. I am attempting (AGAIN) the P365 challenge.  Yes – it does involve taking a photo a day each day for a year.  How is that simple you may ask?  Well – I am not going to bust my  boiler and try and create some convoluted post every day, and spend hours editing images etc etc.  I will just use one of my little photo buddies – Fred Fuji, Zara Zumi, Pete Polaroid, Hetty Holga, Digital Diana (when she gets here), Izzy iPhone and Mini Diana (when she gets here).  VERY minimal processing – infact – none at all on the instant images, and my Camera Bag.app on the digital images.  SIMPLE rules!  I’ll post ‘em when I find the time!  Here’s a few from the first few days…

Because I can – I have had a change of plan………… see my next post!

Enough said – I think they all speak for themselves!

super shots 2009

So – it’s the end of the year.  2009 has been a bit of a topsy turvy year for us.  It began with a disappointment, and ended with a gorgeous blessing.   Everything happens for a reason, and our peaks and troughs this year have made us super strong.

I have taken it relatively easy this year with my photography – with plans to amp it up next year!  Good things are on the way for KCP!  In saying that – I have gathered together some of my most favourite images of the year, and whacked them in a slideshow…… enjoy!

Meet Milla Macey

Meet Milla Macey

Finally I get a chance to sit down and introduce my sweet little Milla!

After a super quick labour – two hours of pacing and four pushes later – Milla Macey ‘emerged’ on 21st December 2009 at 12:47pm – all 7lbs 12.5oz of her.  Incredibly long fingers and toes – and a healthy 51.5cm long!  It was not a quiet entry into the world – she certainly let us know she was here, and vocalised her opinion on her quick birth.  I just lay back and breathed a huge sigh of relief that it was all over!  Not a twinge of disappointment that we landed ourselves another girl – surely four girls can’t be too bad?!

She is truly a sweet little thing – sleeps really well, and is starting to be able to cope with the HUGE amount of milk I am making. I feel like I have a couple of watermelons strapped to my upper body – it is unbelievable!  Apparently people pay to have ‘knockers’ this size!  WHY WHY WHY WHY!  They are SO not practical – even less practical when they leak at inappropriate times!

Anyhow – enough yapping…. here she is…..

a quick SP..

a quick SP..

Me in all my glory – looking awfully serious and pouty!  The pouty bit was totally not intentional – it just happened that way!  I am not enjoying my lips whilst these braces are on – I feel like a cross between a gorilla and a dodgy Julia Robertsesque lip implant!

You know – it is only 11 days to Christmas.  Hopefully it is only 7 days until I meet this babe – BUT – I am not holding my breath.  I am meant to be induced next Monday – but apparently there are 8 caesereans and two sets of twins due around the same time – so I may get bumped down the list if they run out of room.  Bugger.  Wilbur is only home for a short amount of time – I would LOVE for him to be with me.

Having said that – Mr and Mrs Braxton-Hicks have been visiting ALOT.  More than I would like.  They are quite a painful pair.  I wouldn’t be surprised if this babe decided to pop it’s head out this week.  Hopefully not – I have a ton of things on – and baby-birthing is NOT one of them!

DPP#4

This was the facial expression on Murph when she woke up this morning to the ‘pitty’ lights and our ‘tree’ decorations for Christmas (photos to come tomorrow of our Christmas creation!).  We have been trying to convince the girls that the Christmas fairy came through the night and assembled the decorations – but they are not so sure.  Mackenzie believes us, but Madison – hmm – not so much.  She is adamant that it was Daddy.  I said it couldn’t be Daddy, coz it was much too neat and pretty, and did she really think Daddy was capable of doing that?!  Her answer – ‘yes’.  Hmm – I don’t think so!
