Here’s another quickie flock post – but I had to share this dialogue between M1 and myself!
me: Please stay at the table and eat your dinner
M1: No
me: (a little more ‘forceful’) Please sit down and eat your dinner
M1: calm down Mum
me: (trying not to laugh) I will be calm when you sit down and finish your dinner
M1: (in a VERY adult-like soothing voice) Lithen Mum – justh calm down
Isn’t it funny how they emulate eactly what we say!
M1 cut M2′s hair yesterday. Yep. Not that M2 is any stranger to the chop – we had to cut a big chunk of sticky fly paper out of her hair at Christmas time – so she had a mini mullet for quite some time! Anyway – back to yesterday – M1 has a pair of those safety scissors. I only caught the tail end of the ‘chop’, but when I asked M1 to show me how much hair she had cut off – she held up a huge chunk! The fantastic part is – I have no idea where the huge chunk came from on M2′s head – there doesn’t seem to be any missing – so at least M1 is an unobtrusive cuttter! Anyway – the bright orange ‘safety scissors’ have been put away! On a somewhat sad note – M1′s first pet guinea pig ‘carked it’ the other day. Fred. Poor little lad. We had only had him for around two weeks. Luckily M1 didn’t see him doing his ‘death roll’ – she was asleep. I walked past his cage – only to see him lying down in that “Fred is lying down, but doesn’t look awfully well’ typew of position. I picked him up, and he was limp – then he gave a gasp – aha – he was alive! I rushed him in to Will – who started to poke, and squeeze him, and blow in his face (a weird guinea pig CPR type thing I guess!). I was all for taking him to the vet (Fred – not Will – although sometimes I wonder!!). Will was like – ‘it’s an $8 pet”. Yeah – well – let’s take him anyway. So off they went. 15 minutes later – Will came back sans Fred. Yep – Fred’s dead. Vet took one look and said – ‘can’t do much – he’s dying’! Great. So the vet kept Fred, and we told M1. She looked at us and said – “can we gewt another Fred?”. Ahhh – if only everyone and everything was so replacable!!!! We do have another guinea pig – we bought Ginger a week ago for M2. Giner is a little more sturdy than Fred was. Ginger is an adult, and large – which is quite fitting – coz M2 isn’t the most gentle toddler around!
Gotta tell you about M2 widening vocabulary. Yep – finally she does things other than ‘grunt’. We get (now I am going to spell these out phonetically – just letting you know – just in case you thought I was a) a bad speller, or b) that I was teaching M2 some weird alien language!)
– ‘dadoh” – thank-you
– ‘bah bah’ – bye bye
– ‘hayoh’ – hello
– and last night’s gem ‘gogo’ – yoghurt
Yes – I think I have a phonetic whiz on my hands!!!!!!! Anything else is just a grunt, and a grizzle.
Oh – might I add – our chooks are ‘on the lay’ again. Thanks goodness. No eggs from ‘em for ages – but al of a sudden – whammo – we are getting a couple a day! Yay. Now – if only I could cook a good sponge! Does anyone have a good egg recipe they would like to share?
I know this is long-winded and boring – sorry – but FLOCK doesn’t let me pot pictures -and I have some great layouts to show, and some items to pimp – so when I can be bothered (!!!!!) I’ll do a proper typepad post!

Serena - Sorry to hear about Fred. I would have teaken him to the vet too. I actually had guinea pigs and paid for one to have cancer surgery. Yes, I’m a good pet mommy (whenI can afford that kind of thing). Looking forward to seeing your new stuff. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE your pegs.
DebF - sorry to hear about Fred – and love the “calm down” comment (wonder where they heard that one? giggle)
